Bayfield Webinar: Spatial layout and retail performance - How do we design to influence customer experience and footfall?

This webinar is about the relationships between the built form, customer experience, and footfall patterns in retail environments and how a better understanding of this relationship can help stakeholders to optimise value within a specific spatial context. Space Syntax is a scientific methodology which can be used to model and describe configurational qualities of urban centres and layouts of buildings and estates and correlate them with functional and performance parameters. Therefore Space Syntax is a useful method to study shopping centres in their unique urban context in site appraisals and design development strategies.
We will discuss how spatial connectivity and accessibility influence population catchment, visibility, wayfinding and pedestrian circulation patterns within and between developments and therefore have a significant impact on what can be best described as ‘Place Value’.
